Houses come in all shapes and sizes, and everyone’s needs change at different stages of their lives. A young couple just starting out might only be able to afford to buy a small home or condo. Even with a child, a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home works nicely. But then, another child, and another…and things are beginning to feel cramped. Time to buy a bigger place!
25 years later, all the kids are grown and have moved out. The “empty nesters” now live in a 4,900 square foot, 5 bedroom, 4 bath home with much more room than they now need. Maybe it’s time to scale things down, and find a home more suitable to their new lifestyle?
There are, of course, times when someone wants a bigger home for the simple reason that…well…they want a bigger home! So they sell their 3,200 square foot home, and begin looking at 10,000 square foot mansions with multiple living areas, a humongous kitchen, a spacious home theater, a large office, a wine cellar, an enormous master bedroom suite and an 8-car garage, all on a two-acre lot.
